VellumPOS
A multi-tenant point of sale for supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants and boutiques — one product, many businesses, each with its own brand, products, staff and tax rules.
The problem
Small retailers were stuck between expensive enterprise POS systems and paper notebooks. They needed a till that works with a cheap barcode scanner, handles weighed produce, VAT exemptions and mobile-money payments, and doesn't need an IT department.
What we built
VellumPOS is built as a white-label platform: a new business is onboarded by entering its details, not by forking code. That keeps every client on the same, tested codebase and makes updates instant for everyone.
The trickiest parts were the ones real shops care about most — a barcode scanner that “just works” as a keyboard, weighed produce priced by the kilo, staples that are VAT-exempt, and a supervisor approval flow for voids and discounts.
